In general, most design projects follow the same basic process:

  1. Client Discussion & Research

This step usually begins during the initial meeting with the client (in person or virtually via teleconference or the internet). This step involves collecting information about the project, the client's goals for the item to be designed, the client's budget, and the development of a creative brief that will guide the design process.

  2. Intial Design and Development

This step involves the initial visual design of the piece according to the client's needs, requirements, and budget.

  3. Review and Feedback

At this stage, the client reviews the overall design of the piece. Feedback is given by the client and adjustments are made as necessary.

  4. Production

Once the final design is achieved, the designed piece is prepared for printing, production, installation, or application (depending on the type of project). This stage could involve preparation of files for the press, programming code for a website, and/or other technical processes.

  5. Completion

At this stage the project is complete. Sunlit Media will make arrangements as necessary to transfer necessary files to the client for archival purposes as needed. During this stage, clients will want to consider long-term plans for ongoing projects (i.e. maintenance for websites).
